Paxil regulates serotonin level to bring you relief from depression and anxiety! 

One year ago, the FDA reclassified the drug Paxil from a Category C drug, to a Category D drug for pregnant women. Category C is used to represent drugs that have been known to do harm to fetuses in animals. Category D drugs have been found to harm human fetuses.

Last month a news release by the American College of Obstetricians recommended that Paxil should be avoided “by pregnant women or women planning to become pregnant due to the potential risk of fetal heart defects, newborn persistency pulmonary hypertension and other negative effects.”

The agency also claimed that another study of a US insurance claims database showed that infants born to women who received Paxil in the first trimester of pregnancy had a 1.5 fold increase risk for cardiac malformations in comparison to women in the general population. Medical professionals are now saying that Paxil exposure is especially harmful in the first trimester because fetal heart development occurs early in pregnancy.

In addition to heart defects, a variety of birth defects have also been linked to canadian Paxil and other SSRIs. A 2005 study in Teratology Society Abstracts showed that women who took Paxil were also more likely to have an infant with omphalocele, a malformation of the abdomen where content protrude into the base of the umbilical cord and create an early closing of the sutures located in an infant’s head.
